Iron County CAN be the Hog Hunting Capital of Missouri
Right now, there is a huge feral hog population in Iron County.
The Missouri Department of Conservation has just this year led a massive effort to try to eradicate this invasive species.
In fact, hunters in Missouri are encouraged to SHOOT THEM ON SITE.
Because of this, Iron County is primed to become the HOG HUNTING CAPITOL OF MISSOURI!
Feral hogs are a non-native species who are spreading in Southern Missouri. They are incredibly smart and social animals who breed extensively. They are also VERY TASTY!
They decimate crops, kill livestock, carry many diseases and are general nuisances--thus the efforts to eliminate this species.

Hog hunting is open season throughout the year except for shooting in Turkey and Deer Season. There is no permit and hogs can be hunted on public land.
